What’s Your Frequency?

What’s Your Frequency?

Seems impossible something as powerful as life could be as simple as a vibration of sound…a spoken word. But we already know this is true because it was so from the beginning in Genesis when God created the world. Everything in the earth vibrates.
Every piece of matter has a frequency or series of frequencies because all matter is made up of atoms. Atoms are formed by electromagnetic waves that have a specific frequency. When these atoms form a larger piece of matter, the frequency of the electromagnetic waves is the frequency of that matter. (Lucy D article)
Ever wonder why we are so moved by music? The vibration of sound pulls on our emotions even without lyrics. Music (i.e. vibration / sound) is proven to provide many benefits to our overall well-being.

“Experts are trying to understand how our brains can hear and play music. A stereo system puts out vibrations that travel through the air and somehow get inside the ear canal. These vibrations tickle the eardrum and are transmitted into an electrical signal that travels through the auditory nerve to the brain stem, where it is reassembled into something we perceive as music.” (Johns Hopkins)

In the Beginning

In Genesis 1, “Then God said” is listed 8 times. Then God said…

1. “Let there be light,” and there was light.

2. “Let there be a space between the waters, to separate the waters of the heavens from the waters of the earth.” …God called the space “sky.”

3. “Let the waters beneath the sky flow together into one place, so dry ground may appear.” …God called the dry ground “land” and the waters “seas.”

4. “Let the land sprout with vegetation—every sort of seed-bearing plant, and trees that grow seed-bearing fruit. These seeds will then produce the kinds of plants and trees from which they came.”

5. “Let lights appear in the sky to separate the day from the night. Let them be signs to mark the seasons, days, and years. Let these lights in the sky shine down on the earth.”

6. “Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let the skies be filled with birds of every kind.” …Then God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply. Let the fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth.”

7. “Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the ground, and wild animals.”

8. “Let us make human beings in our image, to be like us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry along the ground.”

God spoke the world into existence. We were created from vibration….the spoken word.

The Lord merely spoke,
and the heavens were created.
He breathed the word,
and all the stars were born.
He assigned the sea its boundaries
and locked the oceans in vast reservoirs.
Let the whole world fear the Lord,
and let everyone stand in awe of him.
For when he spoke, the world began!
It appeared at his command.
Psalm 33:6-9 NLT

God breathed life into us…
“Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. (Gen 2:7 NLT)

We are uniquely and wonderfully made in his image. It’s common knowledge we have a unique DNA code. Did you know we also have unique thought patterns? Dr. W. Jerome Stowell who was almost a devout atheist, did a study on the wave lengths of the brain. He now believes without a doubt, that God can keep a record of our thoughts (K. Truman, p.12-15). We know this is true because we find it in scripture, Psalm 139.

From a scientific perspective, Dr. Stowell did an experiment that found the channel of thought wavelengths were able to measure and separate in identity even more clearly than the finger prints of each individual’s hand. They took this newfound ability to measure thoughts to the hospital to run an experiment. They put the machine in a room with a dying woman. The scale they used went from 0 to 500 positive or 500 negative. 500 would represent the power used by a fifty-kilowatt broadcasting station in sending a message around the world. The needle registered to 9 points on the scale when they first set it up in the hospital room. When the woman was nearing the end of her life she began to pray to God. She asked for mercy and confirmed her faith. She recognized that God is the only power and thanked Him for her knowledge of His reality. She told Him how much she loved Him. The needle on the device registered 500 points and was trying to go higher! They ran a similar test on a man who was considered a maniac and started verbally abusing the nurses as they tried to help him. The man cursed her and took the Lord’s name in vain. The needle on the device in that scenario registered 500 points negative (K. Truman, p.12-15).

Our whole being is generating a unique frequency.

Vibrational spectroscopy is the study of the energy (which for scientists identifies the frequency) of the vibration of molecular bonds. Atoms are held together in molecules because the negatively charged electrons in one atom are pulled toward the positively charged nucleus of another and vice versa. But at the same time, the electrons in one atom repel those in the other, and the protons in the nuclei do the same.

This constant push-pull can create a vibration, as if the atoms were connected by tiny springs in constant motion. The vibration is unique for each possible arrangement of atoms in a molecule, and in the language of quantum mechanics, each vibration has a characteristic “energy level.” An electron whose energy matches or exceeds that of a vibrational energy level in a molecule can pass through the molecule more easily.

By measuring current flow through molecules over a wide range of energies, scientists can create a “vibrational spectrum” that provides a fingerprint of the bonds in a molecule and thus is a powerful analytical method for identification of unknown chemicals” (B. Steel, article).

Life or Death – a Choice of Words

I went to google to find the definition of the word, “choice”. I found it interesting that part of its definition includes the words, “the choice between good and evil”.

You are powerful

Through the new covenant, Jesus put us back into right standing with God. What Jesus accomplished on the cross together with the Holy Spirit allows us access to God’s power and authority.

That same power and authority we see Jesus demonstrate in his ministry captured in the New Testament.

For more information on the new covenant go to season 2 episode 1 of PS God Loves You on YouTube or check out Pastor Robert Morris’ sermon on YouTube titled ‘Better Covenant’.
In James, we learn about the power of the words we speak.
Every word we say is written down.

But I tell you that men will have to give account on the day of judgment for every careless word they have spoken. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. (Matt 12:36-37 NIV)

Even our thoughts are known by God.

You perceive my thoughts from afar…before a word is on my tongue you know it completely. (Ps 139 NIV)

But the enemy can’t read our thoughts which is why it’s important to choose our words carefully.
What we are thinking will often drive what we are speaking. This scripture in 2 Corinthians 10:5 is often a daily prayer of mine. Dear Jesus, please take captive my every thought and make it obedient to Christ. If my thoughts are pleasing to God, then my speech will be pleasing.
James 3 gives us an illustration of how a large ship is steered by a small rudder even in strong winds like how the tongue is a small part of our body.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue. Proverbs 18:21

Speaking Death Or

Speaking Life

1. I can’t believe I screwed that up again. I’m such an idiot.
1. Oh no, that did not go well. Lord, please give me strength and wisdom to correct this situation. Thank you, Father.
2. Well, you know me, I have a track record for being late, so let’s just plan for me to be late again.
2. The Lord is helping me to be on time. Lord willing, I will be there and be there on time. Thank you, Father, for blessing my timing.
3. Suzie was coughing at the office yesterday so I’m sure I’ll be sick in a few days. I always get sick.
3. Suzie was coughing at the office yesterday. I prayed for her without her even knowing. I trust the Lord she will be better. Thank you, Father, for protecting me against any sickness. I thank you, Jesus, for the price you paid on the cross for my perfect health.
4. That ladder is dangerous. You’re going to fall and break your leg.
4. That ladder does not seem safe. If you decide to use it, I pray for God’s protection over you.

What are you Believing – Life or Death?

For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he (Proverbs 23:7 KJV). What we believe in our heart is what will come out of our mouth. This scripture tells me I need to purify what’s in both my heart and mind to speak life. To purify my heart and mind I need new revelation; sometimes also referred to as a renewing of the mind.
Romans 12:2 says do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect will.
It seems the quickest path to a renewing of the mind is immersing in The Word. Being in The Word of God daily was the most impactful difference in my life, but I had to take further action before I experienced supernatural change.

1. Staying in The Word
2. A commitment to follow Jesus; making Him Lord over my life; dying to my fleshly desires daily
3. Protecting what my eyes see and my ears hear: this means I watch little to no TV and carefully select my environment
4. The quieting of some friendships and the amplification of others
5. Getting involved with the church body: serving in the church, joining a small group, and investing in friendships with other believers

Don’t go Alone - Get Help!

We don’t have to do any of this on our own. In fact, God models the importance of community by being the 3 in 1 (God, Jesus, Holy Spirit). Ask God to help with the renewing of your mind. Ask Jesus to take captive your every thought. Invite Holy Spirit to walk with you daily; teaching and comforting you.

Reach out to a friend to walk with you in this journey. Someone who will celebrate your victories but not shy away from a gentle correction. Specifically, ask them to identify and correct any death you may be speaking over yourself. When I first started on this journey of correcting my speech, I was surprised by how much death I spoke over myself. I’m close to 2 years into this revelation and still correct myself. Pay attention to how you talk to yourself. Are you saying uplifting things to yourself that align with scripture and what God says about you? If you’re hearing anything that sounds like an accusation or name calling…that is not from God, immediately cast it out aloud. If you catch yourself speaking death, quickly correct yourself by saying, “I nullify those words I just spoke in Jesus’ name. Father, please forgive me and erase those words. Thank you, Father. Amen.” It’s important to nullify those words so that they don’t have any power to work against you.

I encourage you to give these tips a try. This was a life giving perspective change for me. 😊

I’d love to hear from you! Please comment below.

  1. Lindsey says:

I wonder if we speak like God did in the beginning if it would equal powerful prayer? The way sound and words work in our lives is an amazing mystery!

  2. Liz says:

Even though I know better, I struggle with negative self talk and negative thoughts about others. What an emphatic reminder of the power of the tongue and the influence of our thoughts in our daily walk with Him. Thank you!

  3. Nataly Dickson says:

This post is a good reminder of the impact of words. Like Liz said, negative self talk has a negative impact. My counselor told me that negative self-talk gives you depression. Let’s use the power of words for good as they were intended.
